Even Knights of the Realm want a home energy bargain

Posted on 30th July 2013 by Alex Heys

The stereotype of someone who switches their home energy might look something like this: male (because, in another well-worn concept, men ‘look after’ the bills), tech-savvy (because those price comparison sites can be difficult to navigate) and on a tight budget – so every penny counts.

We recently took a look at the details of 20,000 home energy customers who switched to Flow in the last four months. The results generate some food for thought. The titles supplied by those 20,000 customers during the switching process were as follows:

Title

Number

%

Mr

12,905

64.53

Mrs

4432

22.16

Ms

788

3.94

Miss

1526

7.63

Dr

324

1.62

Prof

12

0.06

Rev

9

0.05

Sir

3

0.02

The results are skewed towards male switchers. But a third of switchers were female. And even 3 Knights of the Realm were looking for a bargain, along with 324 Doctors, 12 Professors and 9 men (exclusively men) of the cloth.

We’re not sure whether this is an insight into modern Britain or not. But it makes interesting reading for a Tuesday afternoon.
