A Smart Meter is an electricity or gas meter with the ability to talk to other devices, other services and to us, your energy supplier. It will provide you with real-time information regarding your energy consumption and costs which will all be visible via your free In-Home Display. You’ll receive this on the installation day once the Smart Meter has been installed.
Smart Meters let you know exactly how much energy you’re using, hour by hour and day by day, so they’re a great way of tracking, and reducing, your energy use.
You may have seen TV campaigns promoting the fact that you can ask your energy company for a smart meter. However, the national rollout of smart meters is not expected to be completed until 2020 at the earliest, as the technology is still developing.
We plan to start our smart meter rollout in Autumn 2018. It’s not necessary to contact us about smart meters and there isn’t a waiting list. As soon as smart meters are available in your area, we’ll let you know.
