Here at Flow, we now offer the Warm Home Discount (WHD) for people who need that little extra help with their bills during the winter months. The Warm Home Discount is a government scheme aimed at supporting households that struggle with their energy bills. It’s a one-off payment of £140, paid during the winter months.
Some customers will qualify automatically for a rebate (The Core Group), depending on the benefits they receive. If you do, you’ll receive a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions telling you this. If you don’t automatically qualify (The Broader Group), then you can apply to us directly for the rebate if you meet certain other eligibility criteria.

If you're a Flow electricity customer on 9th July 2017 (the qualifying date) and are receiving the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit as well), then you don't need to apply to receive the rebate as you'll receive a letter from the Department for Work and Pensions during 2017 confirming that you qualify.

The £140 will be added as credit by your electricity supplier to your electricity account. Unfortunately, we are unable to give this as a cash payment.
The discount is to help customers during the winter months with their energy bills, so anyone who is accepted onto the scheme will receive their discount by 31st March 2018.

The Winter Fuel Payment, which is also referred to as the winter fuel allowance or heating allowance , is an annual tax-free payment of between £100 and £300 which helps people born on or before 5 July 1953 to pay for their heating in the winter.
The Cold weather payment's scheme is a government grant that certain customers receive for spells of particularly cold weather on a weekly basis.
The Warm Home Discount Scheme is separate from these.
If you change electricity supplier before we’ve given you the discount, you’ll need to contact your new supplier and see if you can apply with them instead, as their criteria may be different. Unfortunately, applications can’t be transferred between suppliers, so you’ll need to make a new application with your new supplier. We won't be able to give you the discount unless your electricity is supplied by us at the time we make the payment.
However, if you automatically qualify, it will be the company that supplied your electricity on 9th July 2017 who is responsible for giving you the discount, even if you’re now with another supplier. If we were your supplier and you've now left us, you’ll normally get this via BACS. If you still have an outstanding balance left to pay, we’ll put the discount onto your account to help you pay this off.
